SCHOOL DESCRIPTION

VetAgro Sup was born on January 1, 2010 from the merger of the National Veterinary School of Lyon (the oldest veterinary institution established in the world in 1761), the National School of agricultural engineers in Clermont-Ferrand and the National School of Veterinary Services.

Institute of Higher Education and Research in food, animal health, agricultural sciences and the environment, VetAgro Sup operates on both Auvergne and Rhône-Alpes regions and ranks first of its objectives training of veterinarians and engineers, production of knowledge and support for economic, social and public actors in the areas of food, animal health and welfare, agricultural sciences and the environment. VetAgro Sup trains students around multiple veterinary and agricultural occupations (animal health, public health, protection and animal safety, environmental protection, nutrition and food science, etc.).

This great institution was the first French structure created to train both agricultural engineers and veterinary doctors. This model is consistent with international models (university with two colleges), reinforcing the Structure international readability.

With 1,200 students (700 undergraduate vet students) and 120 faculty members gathered in this adventure, VetAgro Sup proposes a set of high-level training in the field of life, legible and competitive national, European and international. The veterinary teaching program is approved by AVMA and EAEVE.

The veterinary campus Lyon (Marcy l’Etoile) and the Agricultural Campus Clermont (Lempdes) are both valued because they offer recognized frameworks for the development of teaching and research. Benefits and services are available to companies and institutional and professional partners: laboratory analysis, medical devices, advice and expertise. Partner authorities (regions Rhône-Alpes and Auvergne, Lyon and Clermont Community, and departments of the Rhone and Puy-de-Dôme) here find a new link for the development of their competitiveness, their scientific potential and their international attractiveness.
