Application Process and ConsiderationsApplying to colleges and schools of veterinary medicine requires planning and time. Be certain that you are able to complete all course work and test requirements before seeking admission to a program. You may not have any incomplete prerequisites at the time of enrollment.
The application process also requires evaluations, along with a personal statement, a list of your veterinary and pre professional experiences, standardized test scores and any associated fees. Some schools require that you take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and/or the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). If you are applying to more than one veterinary college, be sure to complete the prerequisites for each school. Specific application requirements and application deadlines will vary among individual colleges. For a complete list of veterinary college prerequisite requirements, please refer to the Veterinary Medical School Admissions Requirements in the United States and Canada (VMSAR) publication.
Take time to construct your application carefully and submit it before the deadlines. This will help expedite the process. It is wise to submit your application well before the deadline. Most veterinary colleges and schools use the Veterinary Medical College Application Service (VMCAS) as their main venue for receiving applications. |
