AAVMC Accepting Applications for Executive Director


Executive Director position for the 61-member AAVMC organization, which advances academic veterinary medicine globally.  The ED is responsible to the Board of Directors of the AAVMC, overseeing a $3.4 million budget and a 15-person staff. The AAVMC serves as the face of the veterinary profession’s future workforce by raising awareness and visibility of the diversity of interests and opportunities that colleges provide for professional education in veterinary medicine and one health. The ED works to raise awareness and visibility of the academic interests of veterinary medical education to internal and external constituencies by providing oversight of strategic, programmatic, financial, and management operations; initiating and maintaining strong relationships with funders, the private sector, government agencies, policy makers, and other stakeholders on topics related to veterinary medical education and one health; continually expanding the value of service to members and increasing membership; playing a lead role in generating non-dues revenues; and providing leadership to the senior team.  A  DVM degree or its equivalent is required, as is demonstrated experience leading a nonprofit, government, and/or for-profit operation, managing diverse programs, and initiatives and personnel; knowledge of pertinent issues; outstanding communication and organizational skills; and a commitment to public service and diversity.   E-mail cover letter of interest, resume, and three references, including e-mail addresses, to Mr. John Roane, jroane@aavmc.org, before December 15, 2011.  Applications that are received after this date will be considered only if necessary.
