Essential Elements of a Leadership Course for Veterinary Students

Learn the essential elements to developing a one-credit academic course in veterinary leadership for all veterinary students, with special attention for issues facing women veterinarians. This presentation will provide a rationale for the leadership course, an overview of the topics to be presented in the course, and a set of resources to assist faculty in implementing the course.

Building the Pipeline: Women and Underrepresented Faculty in the Leadership Pipeline

The session is intended to explore current literature on overcoming barriers to advancement for women and underrepresented faculty and creating a diverse pipeline of future academic leaders. Audience feedback will be used to help shape a future study on faculty development in academic veterinary medicine.

Development of Faculty Development: Where Are We Now?

This workshop will provide an opportunity to share experiences of local veterinary faculty development programs. Participants will discuss enablers and barriers to engaging with educational faculty development and then move on to design their own model. Final review will include sharing of a model where faculty gain a qualification accredited by a national higher education body.
